I was wondering what people think, are these necessary to keep oxygen content in the water? Also do they sell bubble wands that are more than 24 inches long?

They sell bendable bubble wands that are longer I believe, check with marinedepot.com, bigalsonline.com, drsfostersmith.com ect.

Not a necessity if you've got surface agitation, depends on a number of factors - but if your fish are constnatly putting their noses to the surface level it's a good indicator that the dissolved oxygen in the water is low.

depending on your set up hob filters do well at surface break.... canistors are also good if you keep your return hose high..... im into plants right now so my surface is nice n steady

Putting air bubbles into you tank is not a necessity. Having proper surface agitation is an absolute must. The surface agitation is waht allows the oxygen to exchange with the toxic gasses.

You can buy the flexible bubble wands that can be attached end-to-end. You could litterally have as many as you want hooked together.

This is very true but you have to keep in mind that your pump must be able to keep up with the long air tube. If not the ari will not get forced out the far end of the tube b/c the pump can't pump the air in fast enough to force it to the end of the tube. So if you get a long air wand you will need a big pump.

I agree, my fish were swimming nose to the surface a while back, I had no bubbler in there because it is a heavily planted tank and I thought that they would create enough O2 in the tank. I added a bubbler and increased the surface aggitation, wa-la, problem solved.

Look at the water in your tank. If it has a scummy oily looking layer on the surface it needs more surface agitation. My 10g never has a problem with that but my 55 gallon had it. Just fixed it with an extra HOB with no media in it.

Can you recommend a good pump that would pump LOTS of air through 6 feet of this stuff?

those 1200pgh power heads you ordered are all you need. I've got the same setup and tons of surface aggitation. I have an airstone in one corner but only for the way it looks.

Well once I get those powerheads I guess I can aim them up towards the surface. Id like to get rid of my bubble wall if possible because every time I look at it I get pissed, its like every couple months I loose another inch of bubbles off of it, I think my 3'd air pump is about to take a crap.
