I have a couple of fh/bp's that I recently moved into a 120 gallon tank with some other aggressive cichlids and within a week they have paired off and laid some eggs. I don't know if they were any good or not, cause they ended up eating them after a couple of hours. I am planning on moving them into their own tank now and seeing if anything happens. It's funny, cause when they were in my 180, they never really paid any attention to each other.

Has anyone else had any luck with a pair of fh/bp's breeding?

Here's a pic of the 2....

They are 99.999999% sterilized. Chances are that the eggs wont hatch and the fish will end up eating them.

Lets hope you have that 1 micron percentage of luck and something good happen.
Good Luck buddy.
Keep us updated.

From what I hear its the male who is not fertile, due to the fact that BP males are mostly infertile. Try breeding the female with something else. Honestly if you like the look, I would say try crossing it with a Salvini! Thats what it reminds me of anyway.

I figured that if FH can breed, them the possibility of having a fertile pair is better than the typical blood parrot.

I was hoping more people would have had some experience with these guys. Like rallysman said, I am hoping they are fertile because of the flowerhorn mix.

If not, I guess that I will try and find something cool to mix with the female.

more then possible that your male is fertile. look at those shinny red eyes.

Right on man....that's what I want to hear. :D I guess that I will find out in a month or so.
