Ok i wanna add 1 more...my piranha are 4-5 inches...i do not wanna spend 30 plus on a similar sized one...so i wanna get a baby one. i have alot of hiding spots in the tank for him including clay pots. has anyone did this before....with success? and how about failure? let me know.

Do you feed them live food? If so they will probably eat him when he hits the water.

Otherwise I would say he will still get eaten, but you could try it. It depends on how much smaller he is, but you could use a divider or a growout tank first.

no i dont feed them live. although i do have a jack dempsey colony that they slowly pick off. they arent that aggressive to eachother...i dont know if im gonna. ill have to see how small they are at the store.

thats the same thing i wanted 2 kno cause i wanna get 3 or 6 more rbp's today imma buy a divider for emergency purposes

I added one two baby Ps (1") to my tank with 3 5" p's. One got eaten but that's only because it had one missing eye. As long as it's fast enough to swim away when attacked and there are a lot of hiding spaces, your fish should survive. And keep your p's well fed to keep them mellow.
