So today I bought a male and a female White Cloud Minnow. I leave my Mom with directions to acclimate. She does it great. When I get back from the high school admissions practice course, one is almost tail-less (still enough is there that it will grow back) while one has shredded fins. So I watch in horror as one of my Mosquitofish rises up and attack a minnow. I slam on the glass to break it up. I net both White Clouds (Strangely, they're ORANGE...) and put them in a tiny food bowl in which the pet store water was poured. I go to the pet store. They tell me to "Separate Them." So I run home, come back with $9. I buy a 5 1/2 gallon. I run home, rinse it out, fill it up, put in the castle andsome gravel from the other tank (Instant cycle lol) de-chlorinate with aqua plus, acclimate the minnows in ziploc bags, then release them. To get the tank to room temperature from the frigid tap water, I cranked up the heater to 90 degrees (WAAAAAY To high) but when I noticed it wasn't really doing anything but SLOOOWLY heating the water I took it out and it started SMOKING. Anywho the White Clouds are hovering (exhausted and handicapped from the attacks) and actually eating a little. I plan to get 3 more Mosquitofish and breed them, and 3 more White Clods. I feel like a fishkeeper: Spur of the moment emergencies, spending lots of cash, getting lots of fish. And, of course, multiple tanks.
