Just wanted to share this.

I found this old AC 110. I didn't have the tubing for it so i went to home Depot and got some PVC pipe and some elbows.. The filter suction connector was exactly 3/4. The pipe measured also 3/4 but the thickness was too thick so i had to sand it down just to make it squeeze in.

The down pipe was so damn strong it sucked the minnow feeder right in and chopped him up. So i drilled holes to even out the suction. Much better.

Everything is temporary right now. I going to paint the pipes black and drill the holes more evenly. I just wanted to see if the idea worked and it did. ( this is my first DIY project for my tank)

Its a small start for DIY. Inspired by MFK'ers. More to come though.

I like it. Long slits up the side would be perfect for removing solids from the entire water column.

yeah i was going to ask that next.. should i just have the pipe run all the way down and cap it off.. then drill holes all the way up and down?

BUMP

I dont know if this would work. But, instead the down pipe going down, what would you guys think if i made it run across parallel to tank and drill holes like a spray bar, but instead of output hole its an input hole. I was just imagining, it would give my Gar more room. What do you guys think?

I'd experiement w/ a couple of intake pipes. The suction on the AC100s is strong so you'll probably be able to get away w/ quite a few holes or slots.
