Ha ha ha ha ha I dont think these are remotely attainable, but who knows I saw some galapagos torts for sale on Kingsnake.

That's really cool. This makes me even more excited for my trip (although I highly doubt I'll see any of these while I'm there).

That has to be one of the most amazing creatures Ive ever seen:eek::drool::headbang2Thank you soooooooooo much for posting V:D Also Vicious question made me remind of something;) I have a really old iguana care book and aparently as it states, there were private and public colections outside Galapagos that had land iguanas Conolopus subcristatus under their care. It also saws they like it hot, they will eat grasshoppers and that they are easily tamed! Unfornatly probably none of thouse are left under private hands:((this was from a time in wich even top zoos had trobble keeping iguanas ALIVE, for example under my info the longest living captive green iguana untill 1940 was a specimen that London zoo kept for 4years and a few mouths!) If they only had better husbandry skills we pherhaps were engoying thouse lizards descendents today! Tecnicly Conolopus is obteinable as it is under anex 2 of CITES, but because they are integrated in a World heritage park they are very unlikely to ever be traded at least legaly:(

Only zoo accredited institutions will be able to possess the ability to grasp permits to allow importation of these animals. Here in the states the AZA is so stringent now that private collectors are not likely if ever to get their hands on AZA birther offspring now. This wasnt common practice back in yester years, but theyre getting more and more strict. :(

Permits for the zoological institutions are also getting harder to attain. So if they bring in less animals for study and conservation purposes, they are more keen to keep them or diversify bloodlines within zoological institutions. Sadly the private keeper will be left out because of this process.

What are G land Iguanas?
