I moved my breeding pair of Bristlenose to a 55 all to themselves (along with a buttload of fry) and when I took apart the mechanical filter from the 20 gallon they were in, I saw a baby pleco, alive! The filter is a HOT magnum and my plans were to add it to the new tank with a sponge over the inlet since there are other fry in this growout.

When I emptied the filter into a bucket to save the two I saw, out came 31 more!! :headbang2 There were 34 total but 2 were dead (not in the pics attached, of course).

Where is the oddest place you've ever found a fish(es)

how do you breed plecos?

lol, good job man i made a post like this about 2 weeks ago. amazing what kind of stuff comes out from your filter. 30+ juvi pleco's is a killer find :D

i found a 6" bichir that was living in my fx5 for over a month, still alive and kicking. guys tail is all healed now and he's back to tormenting my poor jag all day long like he always did:)

Lol Good find!! Glad they are alive and you only lost two!

I know right! I was excited when I saw the 2 but about crapped myself when I emptied out the can and they just kept coming. USE A SPONGE ON YOUR INLETS PEOPLE!!!

That's amazing considering the amount of water moving though an FX5! This was a HOB filter and I thought I was lucky! :naughty:

The new tank. Nothing fancy but a hell of allot better than the old 20. An Emperor biowheel, HOT Magnum and a Fluval 205 all cycled. Have two air powered sponge filters on order.

Never thought I would wish for Algea...
