So I have had 2 of these on a 20g for some time and neither read the same or even close so I put all 6 of my fairly expensive (to me) digital Coralife thermometers on my 75g and put all the probes in the same spot, gave it a few for them all to adjust and I got this. :irked:

Probes, all in same spot.

Guess I need to spend more $ to get a quality product. :(

Wow. I'm looking for a new thermometer.

One would think that the water motion might throw them off and read false-
Maybe I am wrong-
I would try moving them so they are not in front of powerhead and intake and see if they all read the same....

It shouldn't matter really but just in case I tried this.

Same results more or less.

lol doesnt matter i stole mine.. lol jk. iono mine is really acurate. tested it before putting it my tank and it was only off by .1 of a degree.

I would call Coralife and/or send them that picture. In the past their customer service has been good to me (although it was before Oceanic took them over). Maybe they can give you some credits or new merchandise.

I use these on alot of my reptile cages and also on my brackish tanks, so this is kind of disappointing to me as well.

EDIT: I just double checked my aquarium ones against my infrared thermometer and they are pretty good. On my 65 gallon it's off by .4 degrees and on my 10 gal it's off by about 2 degrees (it's reading 80ºF but it's actually 78ºF which is exactly where I have the heater set to).

P.O.S....... I had some and I had a feeling they were off the mark also! Glad someone conducted a test.... I should have but was too lazy!

Yep, they sucked. I had 5 and they all read different. I'm glad you tested to confirm my results. At first I thought it was the battery then I replaced the battery but it made no difference. I could live with +/- 2 degress but 4-8 degrees off is unacceptable.:swear::irked: Then again I'm unable to find an excellent quality thermometer for under $20. If you find one please report back.
