I gathered that much but I was not sure what or were I was looking for it I can exactly look if the have a sheath at the pet store the hide in there shell.

Have you tried prodding them out of their shells? Get the snail out of the tank and hold it. Then blow gently from the right profile to prod the snail out. You'll find the penis sheath (assuming what you held is indeed a male).

Males do not care what species and what gender of snails they are copulating around so saying that the snail they are clinging on is female, is not accurate.
