Hey guys. I'm starting a new group for Acaras . Seems like these guys don't get enough attention around here (except for GTs):irked: . So if you own Acaras or are just interested in them feel free to join, posting on this thread is welcome and encouraged .

So to start things off , lets see some pics of your Acaras.

Here's a few pics of mine (past and present, the GT has passed away:cry:)

Except port cichlids aren't in the acara group (despite common names). When Kullander restricted Cichlasoma to ports only, they obvious are part of the Cichlasoma clade instead of acara.

But get the Bolivians!! They are probably the pretties port cichlid!

I'm on board!

I have a wild pair of C. boliviense (from Rapps). They're about 5" m / 4" f
Wild pair of C. arugaiense (sp?) - 6"m/4"f
and some C. dimerus "Constitucion" that I brought back from Uruguay (a pair and some little ones). They're an amazing blue / green all over.

In the past I've kept and bred Aequidens "awani"...Aequidens patricki...Aequidens diadema...and "ports" of unknown provenance :)
My A. diadema took 1st at ACA in 2007...

Here are pics of the male boliviense, diadema, and some bad pics of the arugainense...

I need to take some good pictures of the dimerus from Uruguay. Amazing.

Do Bujurquina and Krobia apply? I keep those as well...

If it's an Acara then it qualifies. It is a big group but I'm not gonna play favorites so long as it falls inside the group. I'm keeping it generic so that all acara keepers can join in.
