My lyonsi has this on his tail fin and no meds are helping I need to remove almost all of his tail fin. Is this safe he will die if I don't anyway any tips on how or not to please.

Bump come mfkers only 7 views someone must know somethin. Sedative, will the tail grow back, what to use after surgery etc...

Where did you start the cut? If it was the caudal peduncle, the tail cannot grow anymore. Pics please. If not, the fins should still regrow. Just do plenty of water changes until the fins recover. Lymphocystis is incurable. Good call on cutting the fins before it spreads further.

If it was in the tissue of the fin it should grow back. If you went into the bone it is gone for good.

I have not cut it yet ill post pics soon some were in my other thread

Oh grrrrr! My home internet is down. I'm useing my blackberry if search endangered species in this foruem u can see pics in other thread sorry ill try later thanks lupin

ok here are some pics sorry for the delay. ive noticed that a few of my other fish have a white dot or two on them now. the lyonsi is in quaritine and has been for two weeks please give me advice on where not too cut and if you djont even think this is lymph disease. In the last pic youcan see that the spots are raised like little cauliflour blooms kinda and only on one side of the fin. i tried too scrape them off but they came back.

This looks very tricky. You'll need to prepare a spare tank where you can continue monitoring them. From your description, this is lymphocystis. Cut the area from where there are golden spots near the big black spot but do not extend this to the caudal peduncle or the tail will never grow at all. Keep the tank clean with daily water changes until the tails recover. Melafix can be added to avoid secondary infections. When you make the cut, it should not be jagged or the tail will look too ragged when it grows back.

thanks alot ill keep the recovery posted. ill do the surgery either tonight or tomorrow after i get some melafix. how long do you thing it will take for the tail to grow back.

It really depends on the immune system of the fish and environmental conditions.
