OK so this weekend I finally got about to getting the last tank our from upstairs. My tanks are all in the basement with the big tank. well I didn't have enought outlets to run all the tanks anymore so a 125, 75, 10, and 5 hex all got broke down. So I hade alot of extra filters sitting around and I wanted to put them to use. so I had 3 FX5s and two hydor IVs sitting around and a tetra DW300 air pump. So I decided that GATF likes the high flowing waters so all the FX5s would do great on this tank. and the spong will add air and be that little extra boost to the filtration. I think that the tank is setup to filter about 1600 gallons. each FX5 is rated for a 400 gallon tank and each hydor is for 75-125. so add that all together and I have a hell of a turnover rate. All FX5 are jamed with biomax and some Fluval Zeocarb. I still need to get some more biomax to finish filling one of the FX5s but it's by far not empty. I put all the FX5s on the backside of the tank on a DIY doly. so that when maintanence time came all I have to do is unplug them turn the aqua stops and pull the cart out. the airpump was also put on a small rack I added to the stand so I have the whole underside of the stand (minus the room for the 10gal. feeder tank) for extra supplies. the airpump was also put on a 2"+ thick pad to stop any noise.

I still need to get ahold of some black poster board for the sides of the tank. And tape up any openings so the GATFs can't get out even if they try. I have the tape but not the posterboards.

also I have bought 5 GATFs in the past few weeks. but One did not make it I'm under the impression that one of my ornates might have ate it. b/c I never found a body. And he was out of my first set of three. I didn't want to just have two so I got ahold of another memeber that was selling some and bought two more from him. so I have 4 and to my suprise they school together most of the time. as seen in the pics. I didn't think that a uber high end pred. like these would school like this I fiugred they would make there own territory and be done with it but they share the tank rather well.

as of now they are on a feeder diet. they will stay there still they get around 8" each then I will ween them off live and go for food sticks pellet and shrimp. but untill they are a little larger I am not going to chance starving them to get them off live.

Very nice! And monster filtration!
Sorry for the loss of one of the GATF. :(

I know if I don't post filtration pics Li will ask so here they are.

I keep the water temp around 83 degrees for these guys. for two reasons.

One: they are from hot rivers (congo)
Two: I should have little to no health problems with this tank b/c what is the first thing you do when your tank gets sick? up the temp and add salt.

That goldfish doesn't seem to fit in... ;)

lol I had this same tank and stand setup just like this with my RBPs But the 10 had some fancy golds in it.

the stand was built to house a ten for feeders or whatever. So when the GATFs get large enough to get off live I'll put something else in this tank.

Do you have enough FX5s? lol

LOL if I had room for more I would not think twice about adding another.

If I can come across a few hundy. I'll pickup one or two more FX5s for backup. or to get ready when I'm able to setup my dry tanks.

Nice man! They should grow real well. Just bring on the feeder's! lol
