Today I was fortunate enough to be able to pick up a large female orinocensis that was offered to me by a fellow member here.
The fish did not transport well, and is need of some serious TLC if she is going to survive. That's part of the game with Cichla, though.
Anyway, she is a Rapps 2008 import from Colombia. I vented her as a female, which is what the previous caretaker thought she was.
Hopefully she will pull through, only time will tell.

I like all the races of the orinocensis....to me they are all equally beautiful, but if I could only have one locality it would be the Rio Negro ones.

There is another race that I have never seen in the trade...they are olive green with snow white auras around velvet black ocelli. They hail from the Rio Jau, Brazil....a tributary of the Rio Negro.
