my lfs has tons of different sizes of convicts that are really cheap i was wondering if you could maybe send pics of a sexed pair or an easy way i can tell the difference between male or female by looking at them their:headbang2

female convicts have quite a bit more color (pink/orange) on their belly. Males get quite abit larger when they are full grown.

You should have done a search this has been covered many, many times.

males have no orange on their stomach, also if you look closely on ther dorsal anal and caudal(tail) fins at the bases you will see small spots or dots, it is evident in the pics in the link above. the male has some spots and the female has none.

caribemob,

as others have said, the easiest way to tell is by the orange scales on the female's belly. males do not have this. from the time a female reaches an inch long they should be easily distinguishable. :)

oh and I think what ProblEmZ was trying to say is that I'm sure you can do a search in the forums and find lots of threads about convicts and how to sex them, even breed them, what to feed, water params etc. :)
