my 11-12'' silver arowana is a pig. I have been powerfeeding him because he wont quit eating. Today I fed him 14 super worms. He is still looking for food. will he stop when he is full or will he eat till he blows up. I wanted to see how much he would eat before he would quit. So I have large 4'' prawns i feed my rays so he ate a whole prawn and some pellets. This silver aro will not stop eating:popcorn:    :popcorn:

he is getting a nice gut on him too.

should I quit or keep feeding until he stops?

I am no expert but i was told by another poster Arowana in general will not feed until they die like gold fish.
You might find once it gets to a certain size it will slow down of it's own accord.
I own an Asian though so I'm not qualified to give an exact answer.
My RTG seems to have slowed down regarding greediness since it's hit 14 inches.
I think i read on here silvers (because they're bigger in adulthood.), slow down growing at 20 inches. If it's wrong i'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will correct me.

overfeeding any fish cant be good. dont forget that they dont eat thattt often or that much in the wild. no point feeding too much cuz one theory sez that fatty deposits = dropeye disease. just look at the shape of ure arows stomach. wen u see a slight bulge u shud know wen to stop! altho they do take more food wen they r babies cuz of growth!

thanks, thats what I thought. I have been feeding him every second or so day.

think about how you feel if you overeat.... very sick... well so will he... and it could end up worse then that..remenber in the wild there is only a seldom chance they would be given the chance to overeat.. always half hungary and on the move... so i would not do this anymore.. just to be safe.

So feeding well every other day is a better suggestion?

u can feed them everyday wen they r babies...but once they reach 12'' and above...every other day is perfectly fine!

My Asian Aro was about 7-8" and he always stopped after about 3-4 superworms when I fed him once a day. If I tried to feed him the second time in the day he ate 1-2 more and stopped so it does seems like he feels full.
