Discus tank update!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I predict you will come to regret putting young discus in with those plants, but good luck!

i like your discus!
tank looks near empty though, at least get some more cardinals or plants :)

The plant on the right will die, I can't remember the name but it's not fully aquatic. I agree with the above comments, looks good but need more of something, either plants or fish. Thanks for posting it.

It takes a lot of work to keep a planted tank clean enough to prevent stunting of young discus. That is why it is recommended that only adults go into planted tanks. The plants and decor trap debris, making cleaning difficult, and leading to water quality problems. I grow out my young ones in bare bottom, with daily water changes.

Thanks, but this is just a growout tank for my little ones. As these grow, they will be placed in a larger tank before finally being moved into one of the 125's as adults with all the sand and decor. I just wanted to show how a typical growout tank works. Very simple. As you can see, keeping such a tank is much easier to keep clean for growing fish.
