Finally finished my triple stack 60, 180 and 95 the other day.
Took about a week to finish and a few more days to fill, run, and change a few things.
^ 60 at the top- One overflow box and two 1" drains. Blue back. I have a via aqua pumping to the 60 and 95 but going to change to rio 3100. Return line comes in from 1" bulkhead on the bottom of the tank.
180 in the middle 6x2x2. One large overflow box and two 1" drains. Black back. Running a via aqua 3600 to this tank.
95 Black back. one overflow box and two 1" drains. The return come from a 1" bulkhead at the bottom and also has an ajustable valve there for flow control.
Stand is made of 2x4s, 2x6s, and one 2x12. I built the stand myself and put alot of thought trying to squeeze all these tanks with filtraion into my room and still have work space.
There is atleast 37 pieces of wood and many 3" long screws.
I used bear high gloss acrylic enamel paint and plywood under each tank.
The only thing i was worried about was the 60 gallon break the beans because they are so long. But the 2x12 is very strong and the back beam is full supported. I usually keep a 2x4s under the front of 2x12 just incase it starts to give.
All of the tank are acrylic and most seem to be made by truvu, i didn't plan that either.
Below is the filtration setup. It wasn't my original plan but everything seemed to fit in place well. All 3 tanks draink into the upper tank. 3 come holes in the top, 3 from holes in the side and 3 from the upper middle of hte tank. I used egg crate to form a box that i filled with filter media. The upper tank is full of many filter brushes (thanks to X-Tank) that fully are submerged. When the tank is about 70% full it drains into the second filtration tank thru a 2" and two 3/4" bulkheads. This tank is full of filter pad, filter brushes, pot scrubbies and prob a few bio balls. I submerged the piping ot make it quiet and plant to put filter socks on all of them. I have a jager 250 W heater in the lower tank (thanks to rkc772). I have a rio 3100 and via aqua 3600 pumping thru 2 bulkheads in the back. I also put a 1/2" bulkhead at the top of the lower tank, so when the power shuts off, if that tank fills it will also drain into that 10 under the entire setup. It was hard to organize and space out 15 pvc runs for all the drains and returns.
Just put in a bichir, feeders, and clown loach to see how the water is.
I plan to put a super red in the 60, i got 4 tigrinus (thanks to CaLiGrEEnZ ) to put in the 180 and the 95 will have 2 retic rays, 4 bichirs, one south american lungfish and a rapheal catfish.
I still need to finishing adding gravel, plants, driftwood, better air stones.
Gotta replace old 8 port air pump, switch out pumps.
I also need smaller lights, I dont have much space inbetween the tank, especially with the piping in the way, so im def need lower profile lights.
I need to decide what color sand to put in the 95, find some decent live plants and also see what other fish i should add to my 180 or 95.
Any suggestions?
thanks for your time, feel free to ask any questions about the setup.
or give advice.
