:)

Although the tank has been running since January 2009, it is still a "new" tank. I'm going to be adding 80 more lbs of live rock this week. It currently has about 75 lbs now and I'd like to finish with about 200 lbs. There's also 200lbs of sand in the bottom.

Beautiful tank just watch!!!Just be careful with what type of coral u put in there that trigger likes certain coral.Try and stay with soft coral and polyp's those teeth he has can do alot of damage.

not trying to sound negative already but the mandarinfish u have and the blue link star fish u have are definitely not going to live.1 the mandarin dosent have enough food in the tank to survive some thing like live cyclopees is the main thing he need and u dont have any in the tank and the blue star dosent have anything to feed on either and it will slowly die off I have learned this from experience.I do have a really good secret to keep the mandarin to live red or brown flat worms are awesome for that little guy but there nothing that u can buy I lucked out on this info from a really close freind of mine that knows alot about reef tanks and saltwater fish.I would take the madarin back to the store if I was u and get something else in his place ntil u can supply enough live food in your tank for him to survive,I can see he is underweieght not a good sign. I just dont want to see u envest all your money in this guy only for him to die also take back the star fish until later on.If u want go check out my profile and see my tank, any questions I would love to help.=)

Well, you are half correct. The blue starfish died months ago (there's a blog post on there about him passing).

However, the Mandarin is doing very well. The picture you see on the blog was taken back in March. I did some research back then and realized I didn't have enough live rock for him to naturally find food. I've been supplementing his diet since then and he has fattened up quite a bit. He is doing very well and is all over the place.

I'll try to get some up-close pictures of him so you can see how he is doing now.

Thanks for the insight!

Cool, I love the simplicity of it. It really works for me.

Thank you both. The horseshoe crab his hilarious to watch. If you didn't see it, I posted a video of him running around:

I will be adding more live rock as I can. I'll be keeping the simple theme though. :)
