According to the magazine, those fish came from a river in Terengganu.

If u drive along the east coast road to Kerteh...Theres a stretch of road where u can find few vendors selling LIVE wild caught freshwater fishes, along the stretch its all covered with fresh water swamps. They do have nice selections of wild Maruloides depends on the season.
