RTC Growth Rate, Coloration answers with pics!

Two of the most common questions I see regarding the RTC is "how fast does it grow?" and "when will his tail turn red?". Well a picture says a thousand words.... First pics are from May 1., the other pics from two weeks ago just before the move to the pond....

What type of camera are you using? I can't get decent pictures of my fish... it's so aggravating! Are you doing anything special with the flash, or anything?
 
i think it is around 12-14" right? that is what my hybrid got to from may 24 @ 4" till a week or two ago...nice fish...i am debating on getting a nother one my last one got to 5" before it died...the reason for the thinking is i have 3 tsns now...nice fish though...does it eat from your hand yet?
 
Thanks eveyone. Camera is an Olympus E-500. Old model by todays standards but good enough for me.

Yes he eats from my hand and attempts to take off a finger every few days!

I'd say he is around 14"16 now.
