Can clown loaches morph their pattern with age? I have one that is now around 2" (smallest of the bunch) and he is starting to get the "oddball" dot on his sides. He is getting it on both sides, so I dont think that its something to worry about, at least I hope not. Anyway, to my question, is this how the oddball is formed? Do they just develop it overtime?

In my experience, some clown loaches do develop black patches on either or both sides. I wouldn't worry about it.:)

Thanks Lupin, I was never worried, just wondering if they could become the oddball or were born with it.

They must change at least slightly over time... One of my small oddballs had only a dot for a center stripe when I got him, but now it extends halfway down his sides. Most of my others still look exactly the same though...

yeah, several of my loaches developed the dot as they got bigger

Yeah, I saw one today that I may go and pick up that had a really interesting looking back stripe.

I've got one that is developing a spot on his belly, small, about the size of a pencil eraser.

My smaller ones are also developing belly spots. Will they eventually meet the top stripes & form a full ring around the Loach?

prolly just the dots
