This morning I received a proven pair of wild 12" Crenicichla sp. 'Atabapo I' from Jeff Rapps. Absolutely the COOLEST fish Ive ever had. I have them in a 120 gallon tank that originally was a reef tank. Its 4' x 2' x 2' with a 30 gallon sump. Man, it turns a lot of water. Everything that I have put in it has spawned almost immediately.
I would love to have the Atabapo spawn. Im just completely new to pikes, actually the only SA fish that I have are Geophagus Dicrozoster which I still know very little about. The Geophagus spawned 6 days after I put them in this tank and the 2nd spawn was 19 days after the first one.
I basically need a crash course on how to care for the Atabapo, from top to bottom. I also need to know how to decorate/set up the tank. I would like to make it look as natural as possible. There is an inch and a half of pool filter sand(all one texture and pretty white, very smooth and clean) as a start and thats it.
Im open to any and all suggestions.
Ive bred African Cichlids for the past year and a half and been in the hobby for 6 years, so Im not new to cichlids, but I am completely new to SA Crenicichla in general and more specifically Crenicichla sp. 'Atabapo I'. Im eager as hell to get as many suggestions as possible. Pictures are a perfect idea as well. The more pictures the better. Thank you very much!!!!!!
