Thanks guys. He broke a tooth on the way home. How long do they usually take to grow back?

If it was supposed to come out....then about 2 days until the new one is in the upright position.

If it was knocked out.....then it will be alot longer, up to 2 months. Because it has to grow and then fold out. They are always growing a set so it depends on when the one that fell out came in. No worries though.

I've been watching him at the LFS for a few weeks now. That tooth just grew in within the past two weeks. It was missing two weeks ago. It grew in on the outside of his top jaw (the one before it was normal, though). By the time I got home, it was in the bottom of the bag. I know they shed them, but I'm pretty sure he freaked in the bag and knocked it out since it was exposed anyway.

Very often the process of losing one and one growing in will result in a bent tooth coming in or falling out. I have had armatus and tat to the point where neither could close their mouths as a result of this. I was concerned at first because I still don't understand how they don't stab out their own eyes in this condition. But every time it always seems to be an exact science. All of them have blown at least 3 sets of teeth since I got them.

For him to be that red the water must have been in good condition at your lfs. None of mine were that red when I brought them home until I had them for a month or two. You should call them and ask them to give you a list of their water param so you can match them closely. Most people say they don't do well with salt added.........mine got even redder after I started using it in their tank. There is alot of talk about how they change after a certain length. I have found this to be 100% truth. You have to keep a good eye on him at that point. They will do better with 2 or 3 more together. I do keep all my fish on live quarantined food. Make sure you get yourself a powerhead or if you have a mag pump plumb it to create a strong directional current. I would keep the temp cranked 85 degrees. Keep the water highly oxygenated, and make sure it is atomized as finely as possable. Good luck, nice pick-up.
