Salt worked for my Dorado. The runt took an Armatus tusk through the edge and it was ran right into the center of the eye. Was swolen bad and white within 12 hours. Became opaque and I thought the worst but 3 weeks later it's hard to tell which Dorado even had the injury. Thought for sure it would be blind.

Rhaphiodon ran into egg grate and messed up his grill and had an eye go half white. Took close to a month but it healed.

My last batch of Armatus allready had one with a small bubble in it's eye and it healed allready.

I think just keep the water warm, salt, and pristine conditions, not sure if I'd go to other meds just yet. BUT, I have lil experience with Mela/Pima. Used it a couple times on rays and didn't really see anything convincing, but then again fishkeeping habbits have changed a lot since then water quality wise.

I've seen it go both ways. Last batch of Armatus one was lost to a similar eye injury to what's healed with this batch. Just turned awful looking. Long story short....... Water quality. Seen it first hand. I know you keep good water so, in my opinion I'd just watch it for a bit an see how it does.

He's not pulling any of that "unbalanced" stuff yet is he?

Sounds promising Vamp, If he isnt gone already, chances are he'll pull through. How's the eye? Hopefully it can be saved.

My Tank Setup

I posted in your disease thread. check it out.

But i have used maracyn1 &2 combo on many hydro's and many many cuda's with no ill effects. And since he is in a hospital tank allready i see no reason not to.

My course of action for bacterial infections (usually fin and tail on new cuda's) is

Mid 80's temps
salt
methylene blue (increases oxygen up take and also antifungal)
maracyn1 and maracyn2 together (in combonation they are said to treat all known bacterial infects in fish)
daily 50% water changes and replace meds for new water (watch parameters closely)
treat for 7-10days

Its expensive but come on this is fang!!!!!! he's a legend

Ps methylen blue is sometimes hard to come by. So if you can't find it then let me know and I can send you some.

WOW this is crazy!! That is the best armatus out there, hope he pulls thru.

My tig got stung pretty good through his jaw into his head and it bled real bad, he got over it fine. He was not able to close his mouth for a while though.

Vamp,

I hope he pulls through man...your fang is the reason why I have all mines.

I know it sucks, with my small ordeal from last week, sometime I walked in the fish room and just wish he was dead than lingering on.

Let him have a day of no stress, increase O2, then try the meds tomorrow.
Increasing O2 never hurts characins..

I lost my 16" fei feng to a motoro and I lost my 14" leichradti to my leo x pearl.
They both got stung in the body, within 3-4 days a small red inflammation turn into a 2-3" square of deformed scale and body. They both died a week later. I was in the middle of the move and I couldn't react quick enough.

I hope your fang pull through..

stan
