My Tank Setup

Cover the sting?

Is it possible to cover the stings? I seen one of the breeders here have colors on their sting, which im assuming they are plastic protector covers? Is there such thing? If so, what do you use and how do you put it on?

Thanks in advance.

It's a peice of plastic tubing. shippers use it so the ray doesn't punch a hole in the bag. Not a smart idea to try it in your home aquaria as you WILL probably get tagged, not to mention theres like no use for it in a tank, not like your ray can break the glass with a barb.

DO NOT put it over the stinger, if you leave them on they can cause infections and could kill the ray

Don't worry about that, they rarely sting, and even when they do, most of the time it wont kill unless it hits the wrong area.

Already been said... just for transport really. No need for it in a tank.

I've read in other threads to just leave them on until they fall off as rays shed their stingers twice a year. Out of the two rays I just got, the female still has hers on. She's been in the tank a little over a week now. Should I be trying to take it off?

Yeah, I tried sliding it off with some plant tongs, it didn't budge. I'm a wuss and afraid to reach down there with my hands. It can stay on for now, everything looks to be ok.
