Any big stingray pond or tank keepers out there (500g+)? What are you using for a heater? What have you found to be the most economical? I am about to set up a pond, and havent decided what kind of heater i am going to use...
any insight would be appreciated!
the pond is going to be 8x8x3.

i would aso like to know this

I have seen inline heaters that I believe were designed for hot tubs. I will have to look and see if I can find them again. Most people run drip systems and drip with warm water. Then they use stealth heaters placed such that the outlet flow from the filter runs over the heater so that it keeps the warm water recirculated. The other trick is to insulate the pond really well and to not put it in a cold room without heat.

how do you regulate the temp useing the drip.. if you use just the hot water line it would be to hot wouldnt it? but how would you run the hot and cold through a ro filter and regulate what temp you want?

There are titanium heaters that go over 500 watts. You just buy a seperate conrol box and you can hook up how ever many heaters you need as long as they don't exceed the control box's watts.

Also, if this is an outdoor pond with koi in it you only need to heat it up enough to keep it from freezing over. They do sell things to keep that from happening. the koi can handle the cold.

I've got a pair of 600 gallon ponds, but they are in my livingroom. I keep my house at about 70F, so all I need is a pair of 300 watt heaters for each one.

I use an appliance "Y" before the 2 filter housings. Adjust hot and cold knobs accordingly.
