I have no more tree monitors...:( the females were having reproductive problems so it was best to part with wild caught animals and start with cb babies from indonesia. Thats what I hope to accomplish in 2010 along with some other australian projects. So for the moment I am working with V Similis, V. Tristis Trisits, V A****hurus (red and yellows), V Glauerti,

So here are some pics yay!

very cool, I know now that Ive built 2 large enclosures that I could make something great for some ackies or something but these guys need quite a bit of daily attention dont they, dont they eat quite a bit of live prey daily?

awesome, I always enjoy seeing your monitors.

Mad about cichlids and Jason ill answer your queries in one post if you don't mind.....
Jason if you're looking for a less insectivorious varanid that stays small like an ackie id suggest v. Tristis tristis. I feed mine every other day chopped up fuzzies or whole pinks and then feed 2x week dubia roaches or crickets. They're a little more arboreal so keep in mind 3 ft in height or more would be ideal for their cage.

M.A.C ...... a 75 gallon aquarium would be fine just remember to fix the top with a solid material like a piece of Lexan or acrylic to keep humidity inside the enclosure. Remember to have a good temp gradient 70's low end wight basking spot at about 130f max. And provide a semi deep substrate level between 10 - 12 inches.
