I ran into a lady 2 1/2 years ago who was looking for a home for her grey bamboo shark. She said the shark was around a year old. It was around 10-12 inches. So i took it. She grew to 22 inches and August of this year she layed 4 eggs. I didnt think anything of it because there is no male shark. After she layed the eggs she would not eat anymore and lasted for about month before she died. I just kept the tank going to keep the live rock alive. I was walking by last night and saw something swimming and looked and it was a baby shark about 4-5 inches long. My question is how could this have happened without a male? Thought i knew everything about the birds and the bees lol.

Sperm storage in females is a well documented thing. Females will breed, then hold onto the sperm until the time is needed for laying fertile eggs. You can see results of breeding over a year later in some species.

Yep.
Do some searching for Mitch Carl, Omaha Zoo and parthenogenesis. Mitch was one of the cutting edge people when it came to understanding this feature in sharks.

how big do those sharks get ??? there not a forced gill breather right ??
