Sand or gravel in my CA tank

I redid this tank the other day and I'm starting to wish I would have went with white sand.What do you all think.Please don't move this thread these are the people I want to ask.I have never used sand before.the tank is a 120 with 2 emperor 400 as the filtration

^Agree 100% since I went to sand I love the look.
Your tank looks good though but with the drift wood and dark background sand would look really nice in there.
 
you can use Pool Filter Sand. Its heavier and not as fine as other sands. So you can vacuume it and it wont suck it all out.

Plus. its CHEAP!!! It's not white. But its very light tan
 
I always wanted to do a sand bottom with a few handfuls of gravel, try to get that natural habitat look. When I build my big boy that's what I will be attempting to do
 
The first sand bottom I did I had natural gravel in, I left a few pounds and mixed with the PFS and I was really happy with the look, I still have it.
 
I would go with sand but I really like your gravel. When it comes to gravel the darker brown/natural stuff is what I like.

It's really easy to keep clean once it's in, and if you go with pool filter sand it's pretty clean out of the bag generally.
