My order came in for this new coralife aqualight two bulb.

One is actinic the other some bright 10,000K or something (stock setup). I don't know much about lights but I do know I ordered two Nova extreme freshwater units both had issues and I decided to give this a shot as my experience with the coral life products has always been good.

Anyways this is an upgrade from a single tube regular fluorescent which looked like this.

This made me realize quickly how much more noticeable the brown algae was... Ill be taking care of this tonight with a nice scrub down and water change as well as a diatom run and a thread update with some nice crispy pics :)

One question though, do they use the same bulbs as a regular light? or are they special bulbs?

They use T5 HO light bulbs.
Coral life has a whole line of different ones these are just the ones it came with.

Thanks friend ! I love them im doing the water change with scrubbing right now :) Hopefully a pic update after a scrubbing / water change / diatom should be sexier !
 
that looks way better glad you got the gravel out of their too, you going to add sand or leave it for a while?
 
Not sure what I am gonna do with the substrate. I did a nice 75% water change with a heavy algae scrub. When the Diatom works its magic overnight ill have pics in the morning !

PS the air stone and small sponge filter are there just in case of a power outage they are hooked to one of these dual outlet BPAP I love the thing really blows some air.

Id rather just have an airstone but better safe than sorry.


Also that crappy heater is being replaced with an Ebo JAger 200 when it arrives with the heater guard.... Its quite the green eye sore for now :(
