hopefully if i have done it right, think link above will be to my tank build.
internally its just over 6'long,5'high and 4' deep, from research i think its 'too high' burt does it really matter, apart from the practical reasons.

i have kept fish and bred various sp. over the years and generally had good success and healthy fish. i have admired rays for ages, but now the tank is coming along i would love to take the plunge and try keeping them.

Is there anywhere around my area (anywhere off the M25) where i can buy them, either a breeder or retail outlet? im not gonna just dive in and buy the first one i see, but want to go and look at some available.

do you think the tank is big enough for quite a while, for one or two Motoro? it gonna have a trickle type filter along with plenty of biological filtration, filter about 2'x2'x4' so i have enough space hopefully to make a decent one, just need so advice on what's best.

Many thanks to all for your advice. mike

Rays are a different kettle of fish. Add a little extra oxygen and current and you should be all set. Common sense should keep you safe. I've never been stung in the 5 years I have kept them.

It would be nice to start planning your theme and color scheme since you are starting from scratch.

I can't wait to see you completed tank first. Take your time to choose your ray. They can be a lifetime pet... I don't think anyone has a ray that died of old age yet.

That tank should be just fine for rays, i would say you could cut the heigth down a few feet of you wanted.. I've had a 36" tall tank and it was a pain to clean the botton, i can't even imagine a 5' tank.. Plus if you can go longer i would, i like my 8' tank..

Maidenhead St. Albans. 3 miles from Junction 21a. They jut sold a pair of 4-5 inch Leo for £3000!!!!!!!!
Wildwoods, bout 5 miles from junction 24. But pricey.
