Well like the title says. I really want to do a shark or possibly 3 of them in my 360 gallon tank. I want to do a community reef but keep the middle clear for sharks. I would like a 2 white spot bamboos and some stingrays and maybe another really nice rare shark. I would only be growing them up and then giving to a friend with a much larger shark pond. I guess my question is, how successful have you guys been with sharks and a community reef? I want clowns damsels etc the whole works on small schooling fish with sharks going in and out. Is there an age where sharks turn on fish? How are they with BIG hermits and snails ( does age play a role?).

My 360 is a 12x2x2. The the width sucks but for a smaller shark they could really enjoy a 12ft raceway until they needed to be moved. Please no flames i understand bamboos get 4ft and will provide the home necessary when the time is right.

BTW why does it say everywhere that smoothhounds and bamboos can live in a 150-200 gallon for life? Man i would feel so bad for them if i had that tank size.

How are smooths with community reef?

Just please leave some suggestions that would best fill my needs out of a shark for my community tank. I want to be able to add the biggest variety of fish with a shark. What ever meets that i would like to know :D

I also know the size required for sharks, once again i am only enjoying them for the time i can, then they will be given proper housing when needed... please don't tell me i need bigger tank etc.... when the time comes they will be moved. I am hopefully thinking sharks will grab a hold of my dad and we can have a 20k lagoon in the spare room :D

You best bet is going to be coral cats or marbled cats. Must better suited for a set up like this. Just be aware they will knock over and destroy coral. It takes a LOT of work to keep coral and sharks/rays together. Just a heads up on it.
If you keep the sharks well fed, and raise them with other fish you should be fine. Just avoid aggressive fish that get territorial. They tend to pick on the shakrs/rays.

yea i was thinking 2 bamboos for sure. Then something special, like a zebra shark :D.

The corals i don't think will be two hard as i will be placing rocks on the left and right of the tank and leaving the rest open. That way minimal shark swimming can be done where the corals are.

I really dont want a coral catshark, anything else that could be the real show piece of the tank?

I am rehoming my eel and going for the tank i always wanted. I am selling all tanks to make this one the best, and to put my full into it. I Really want this tank to be incredible.

Hehe, I hope by zebra shark you don't mean the 10 foot long Stegostoma fasciatum :D

Epp or Arabian bamboo might be best suited for this kind of set up. I suggested coral cats because they tend to navigate rock work better while swimming. Most bamboos are crawlers, and will land on rock/coral and knock it around.

A small guitarfish would be a cool and unique addition.

Yeah... think a tank 150X larger for an adult zebra shark.

What happened to your moray?

I had a reef with my nurse. She killed everything. Almost 600.00 worth of fish in 2 weeks. Have you thought about the amount of waste that the 3 sharks can create with feeding, your going to have to double your filtration. You are also losing medication with cooper it can kill some sharks, an your corals too. Have you thought about doing a bamboo egg?

That said, if you wanted to let me adopt the zebra when it got too big.... I'd be happy to put it in the BIG tank in a few years...
