So earlier today I gave the Oscar I had rescued to a friend who really knew how to take care of larger cichlids and had a 125g ready for it so now all I have is a Jaguar in my 75g and I want to get one Butokoferi (excuse my spelling its a hard name to remember how to spell) and was wondering if you guys could give me any info on them, the one I'm thinking about getting is 9"-10" and my Jaguar is 11"-12". thanks any info is appreciated

Ill be going to pick it up in about an hour

from what ive read they max out at 14" and if you can keep two oscars in a 75g then why cant you keep a jag and a buto?

yeah i wouldnt just worry about water params and space but aggression
there was a 5 or 6 inch butti at my lfs yesterday whos lips looked almost bloody from trying to attack both me and the red devil in the tank next to him yesterday through the glass so much

Im hoping that since my Jaguar is 3 inches bigger and pretty agressive, that itll make it so neither one messes with each other, hes in a tank with a 7" flowerhorn and a 5" green terror at the store right now and theyve all been in that tank for over a month

The aggression level difference between oscars and Buttikoferi is comparable to a kitten and a tiger...just trust me on this...unless you want to see one of those fish die..i wouldn't do it

but he seems to be doing fine with the 5-6" GT and 7" flowerhorn

bad bad idea, but seems like you already have your mind made up so go for it.

I definately dont wanna have a blood bath on my hands, but it seems like a fairly docile butto since every fish in the tank with it is unscathed
