Pics and results from S. Florida fishing

Fished all over south FL canals and lakes last week. No Pbass caught (did see a few though) and no snakeheads. Did not even see one. Those were my target fish so I am a little sad about that. I did however see TONS of Mayans, Oscars, Tilapia, Pacu, Jaguars, Midas and Plecos. I also caught 50 plus largemouth as well as more than my fair share of exotics. Took some pics of each kind and then got tired of taking pics of 10 different oscars etc...

even though you didn't catch any of your "targeted" species it looks like you still had a blast!

What did you catch them all on ?

I did have a very good time. I caught some Mayans on spinners but almost all of the cichlids were caught on night crawlers.

The majority of my catches were at a junction in the c4 canal in Tamiami. Not as much luck north of that in Margate, Coral Springs and North Lauderdale but I did see quite a bit there. I was just targeting snakeheads in that area so I didnt fish worms there, just topwater and spinners.

I meant to bring back some smaller oscars but I threw all of the oscars back and just kept small tilapia , mayans, and jags for bait at that time. I brought some Jags back but forgot to get more oscars unfortunately.
 
I want to go on a trip down there so bad but don't have the time right now but I already have plans in place for going next year :D

Next time I am down there, I will take better transport equiptment to bring some more goodies back. the mayans down there were way nicer than the drab ones that i see in tanks so often. Most of them were in breeding color I believe as many of them had HUGE spawns they were caring for. I have never caught pacu and would guess that it doesnt happen that often on hook. they are real big down there. i was shocked to see them really.

where are you catching all those big cats at?
