So I found this at my lfs shop labeled as L114. Please tell me this is an L600.:nilly:

L600 is not an accepted species.

So there are no L600...

L600 was an L114 with yellow fins. This type is very rare.

Yours is an L114.

As juveniles I think it it quite hard to differentiate between the two but better pics are needed, focussing on the head.

As for L600 as an L number, it wasn't issued by DATZ, I think it was coined by exporters. But I think that it is better just for ease of use for it to remain used as an acceptable name for Pseudacanthicus leopardus. As with other L numbers, it takes on a life of its own within the hobby.

I thought full colored tail was a different L number. So this is just a different tail patterned L114? My other L114s has spots in the middle of their tail.

I'd say L114. I have an 11 inch male and he looked just like that then lost his all orange tail to some spots on the tail mixed with orange. I bought him as an L-600 when he was 4 inches. Mine is definately an L-114.

Darn. I already have 3. Hoping this one was different. Now I have 4 of em.
If it were me I would breed them then, surely out of 4 you have a male and a female :)

Looks good!
There are other ways to differentiate then just the color of the fins. Perhaps when he gets bigger see if he has a more elongated body and a stockier build?
One site don't even list the fin color as a way to tell them apart, just that the L600 has a darker body color, more elongated, and a stockier build.
Either way if they weren't considered a different L number till recent years I'd think it'd be hard to tell what is what anyway. And as previously posted they are pretty much the same fish no matter if the L number 600 is recognized or not.
