Hi guys,

I got a pair of Aligator Gars (Atractosteus spatula) on August 8, 2010 at about 4 inches each.

Here's a pic of them in the plastic bag:

In less than 2 months.. one of them has grown to about 11 inches.. the other is about 8-9 inches. 8)

Following are a few pics of them with a pair of my Florida Gars (also around 11"-12") and my 16"-17" Silver Arowana.

PS: That pinkish hue is due to the Hitachi light in the tank and is only visible in these pictures. To the naked eye, the color of the light and the fish is normal.
 
Its amazing how similar they look in color and pattern if you ignore the head shape differences! Very nice looking gar.
 
Oh how I love gars! What do you plan on doing with the alligator gars in the future?

I plan to sell them in a few months. Alligator Gars are quite rare in India (at least in Bombay). And I am already getting some good offers for these guys.

(I am not ready to give them away just as yet.. It a great feeling to have a TRUE monster as a pet :) )
