so basically there are alot of new people which is good cause I kept seeing out of hobby sales all through September:(.

is this pattern normal on MFK?

what ever I feel like we will have a lot of good members but some of them are just asking questions that they could just Google. Some questions are just plain dumb. im not going to point out names but some made me laugh.

so please ask questions I do all the time but I always try and do some research first you'd be surprised how much is out there on the internet

so to all you new people welcome :headbang2

and you old people (you know who you are) just keep doing what you are doing lol

yes I forgot to add that but im talking people with like 30 posts. I may be new but if you check top posters im up there for the daily I think so I am also one of the more active people until fairly recently I stopped considering myself new.

nice lol I am new to the hobby as well but it is the ONLY thing I do my parents are kind of worried...

for me creatures have been an obsession since I was like three my mom told me that I used to sit there and watch ants. I enjoy watching them and drawing conclusions on their behavior. as a kid I refused to read fiction so I read about insects and amphibians.

pretty much my obsession with fish is kind of sick I fit into all the psychological categories of animal hording lol I think its a show on animal planet.

I also go to leangths for my fish when I cant get a ride to the LFS I bike the 12+ miles (round trip) ive done it carrying live fish its motivation to go faster.
I also gut and fillet earth worms for my platydoras costatus (Raphy I love that little guy) and I also prepare a salad bar almost every night for my plecs

tho im kinda worried my female ancestrus tem. is acting shy these days she usually comes to the the choicest parts I guess shes just grumpy cause the acts just fine when I turn the lights off.

If people stop asking question even dumb ones then what's the point of a forum, people may as well use google. If people don't like the question being asked then move on, it's pretty simple really. These threads are worse than the dumb questions imo.

It's great that so many people want to take good care of their fish. Most of the time I'm happy to ask the same three questions that need asking to get things rolling. Sure, google answers many simple questions, but isn't it great to have an active forum where a person can ask "OMG! WHY IS NEMO DY1NG?!" and get answers that might save his fish on a real-time basis? I'd rather have 20 people learn about checking their water for ammonia from us than one person not care at all and watch their fish die thinking it's normal. Bring 'em on. We'll whip 'em into shape.

idk i have more than 30.. but im still new... came here to share in the common hobby of fish keeping... mainly here because it seems more people share the view of "a 90 gallon tank is only a small tank to a MFK" haha couldnt get this anywhere else!

I totally understand your point BUT,how many times have you googled something you pretty much knew the answer to anyway, just to confirm or touch up on a subject and found some completely backwards info on what you were researching and just "laughed" at the ignorance or false info you were reading? Or google any type of species you can think of and know for a fact what they are and see what pictures come up. So to "google" isn't always the best answer either.
Now you have good ol' MFK here with a bunch of people who know their stuff or pretend to. BUT there's a difference once again, unlike google, should anyone disagree or feel some info is wrong they will quickly jump all over you and correct you. Or there's also the different facts that come along with the picture when you have 4-5 people talk about a certain disease..let's say ich for instance, you may get 4-5 different yet similar scenarios and solutions on how to help and to cure your fish at the same time.
Personally I think no question is, as you said,"dumb". Knowledge is awesome-period! If you don't know and can ask someone who does know and they can teach, explain or show you in anyway on what to do,or how its done, or why its done this way or why it is this way etc etc etc than that's just ,as I said, Awesome! I am sure we all have at one time or another asked a question that someone else may have felt was "dumb" but we asked,we learned and now we know. If you feel it's a dumb question than maybe you should answer and give that person a hand or some advice. After all, isn't asking questions part of learning?
