Water Bed Heater

Has anybody ever used a waterbed heter under their tank for an additional heat supply ?

I have one i says 360 watts and was wondering if pressed firmly against the bottom glass if it would heat or help to heat enough to bother ?

Anybody ?

I wouldn't use it.

I dont think the contact will be "tight" enough.

i dont think it would be acurate enough, it proboably fluctuates more than fish would handle.

i wouldnt use it these things can cause "hotspots" on the bottom of your tank for the same price as the waterbed heater you can get a sweet in tank submersible heater i use two 1000watt heaters on ym 800 and it always stays the right temp

you could also go to your local building supply store and get a thermostat that plugs into the waterbed heater. they make digital thermos so the temp wont go up and down ,i did this under my indoor 220 pond and it works fine. it might not work on a tank but it is worth a try, you could take the thermo back if it does'nt work.
