For Christmas my dad impulse bought himself a 100 gallon bowfront (much to my dismay! He was going to get a 300 gallon wide acrylic for an aro setup). I live in the NW and he lives in CA and I am just home for Christmas visiting. This tank was mainly set up in two days.
The tank is run with an FX5 for filtration. The heater is a 300 watt Via Aqua titanium. The sand is black Tahitian moon. The wood is actually three pieces of Malaysian DW from the LFS.
The plants are swords, crypts and anubias in the wood. The lighting is a dual T5HO fixture that came with the tank. Fertilized with flourish, no co2, may add excel.
The stock:
-5 gold severums
-4 blue acara
-14 cory cats, two different species
Obviously we're going for pairs with the cichlids, getting rid of the others after that. Going to add 6 keyhole cichlids and a pleco or two. We will see how the plants do with the cichlids, I'm hoping the fish are too small to do any real damage right now and the plants have a chance to root really well before they get big enough to easily uproot them.
Just a note, I am NOT a Cichlid guy at all, I like oddballs mostly. This tank was really fun for me and my dad to put together and the stock was something I'd never do myself so that was cool too.
The future plans are just building out the center more and filling in the edges of the tank.
Hope you all like it.
