I understand at least part of what Miles said though I dont know exactly what he is refering to. Ive been reading the MFK forums for awhile now just couldnt join because of a prob. with my computer. I have noticed that in the ray forum and the arrowana forum there are some members with very sharp remarks to anyone with little knowledge on rays ect.. The only way the hobby will grow is with education and and helpful comments. This forum has the most knowledgable ray keepers I have been able to find. Would hate to see experianced keepers leave and new keepers get discouraged because of this.

yes i agree, i think i know what thread u are talking about. there has been a few. but the last one i thought was a very good thread for all ray keepers to put there heads together. there still is many ? in regards to freshwater rays an keeping them i feel that having places like this for fellow keeps to talk an share help us understand these creature better.

miles, i hope you reconsider staying on the forum.

I usually keep out of matters like this, in fact for the most part over the years I have been a quiet observer, but in this case I feel it is necessary to speak
Miles, as a keeper, I have learned much from your posts over the years. Your thoughts have caused me to reevaluate many of the fish keeping techniques I have used, and caused me to implement new ones.
I remember a post on large fish acclimation, this has helped me greatly I believe.
Nice to have a few people around here who think of fish keeping scientifically, it would be a shame to lose the few we have.

Report all negative posts to the staff. All forums with questionable attitude by majority of members frequenting them will be under tight watch. We will not tolerate any more negative posts that undermine the sense of community being encouraged here. Thanks.

This has happened time and time again. A few need to make everyone else feel inferior and are detrimental to the site. For some reason I can't figure out, some have been here for years, and nothing is done about them. I can't even begin to imagine how many potential great fishkeepers were snuffed out with their first noob question . It is ridiculous. Miles is a huge asset to this site, and look what happened. Again. I was excited to see him posting again. Since I've joined this site in '06, it has changed over 90% at least twice. We have lost a LOT of great fishkeepers, and many were due to bullying on the site. It's crazy.

Miles, if you do leave, please PM me with your new site. I would like to see where the grass is greener.

This is too bad Miles. I've just recently got into rays and started hanging around this forum. I read the stickies alot and wondered where you were, and why you didn't post hear anymore. I have to agree with the above posts, there are a lot of smart remarks to newb questions here, and in just about any other forum on the site. I noticed favoritism, higher post count sometimes means more leniency, and when one so called "expert" posts, a lot of others folllow suit and flame away. Hope you decide to stick around so we can learn and think!

I would like to clarify that on the staff's defense, there is no favoritism involved. If there was in the past, then, you will not see that anymore. The problem is a lot of you simply contribute to the problem by not even reporting to the staff what is happening around. How do you expect the staff to immediately sort the problems because some of you are joining the fray? That has to stop. And the staff cannot be here 24/7 to monitor everything so we are relying entirely on the community to help us nip the negativity already.

I will try to be nicer in the future :(

Some people can be a little "short" with people at times but I think people should keep in mind that the computer monitor does not convey emotions and things can be misinterpreted as rude.

I think the ray forum has some of the most knowledgable people around and I appreciate every thing I learn in here.

I do know a few people can be rude but I think they are the minority

It is good to hear that the staff is going to be cracking down. However, you aren't the first mod to say that. Nobody likes to be a snitch, but in severe cases, I have reported a post. There are some problem members that have been here as long as I have without a single ban to speak of. I can spot these guys, as can everyone else, and I'm not a mod. Why should they have to be reported? I can understand the odd post that is offensive being reported, but come on, some of these people have been problems for years.
