After comparing images from the web, this individual seems to be somewhat well-marked.










 
I wonder if or how his pattern changes and looks as he grows.
 
Me, too. I found one pic that claims to be a platysilurus of some sort but has a broad horizontal bar down the length of the body. Don't know what to expect at this point.

It's for mucosus, but until I can tell the two apart, who knows for sure which I have?!

By jove, I think you're onto something! Looks like an aging progression. I do see the spots merging into a band. That's cool with me. I'm just still curious as to whether my fish is truly malarmo or possibly another platysilurus.
 
Oh, nice. I'd seen that pic pop up but disregarded it because I wasn't aware of the spots' merging with age. Thanks for that image and ID help.
