what's the best way to color up a green terror? Mine is pictured above, and I know it's not the best quality shot...the coloring is about spot on.

Mine is maybe 3", who is just not starting to get red tipped fins and irredescent green/blue stripes around its mouth. The majority of its color is a dark/dull green and isnt very attractive.

I'm currently feeding my fish Omega One products...the Color Enhancing tropical pellets as well as the Mysis Shrimp. I just began mixing in their Kelp Pellets in the diet for more diverse vitamins and Sporillum (sp?).

will it's color come over time?

I have been told that NLS will improve the colour of fish, but after switching I have still not noticed a difference between that and omega one (which is what I used to use)

I will probably be switching back to omega one since the ingredients are very similar and the price is a heck of a lot better.

I would say make sure it is well fed and keep up the water changes.

In the 25g tank, I do a weekly water change of 5 gallons, along with the scrubbing and vaccuuming of rocks. I also change the filter once a month, and the filter is a 200gph model.

I feed "breakfast" and "dinner", in the morning a pinch of food, and at night i give them a few courses of food, waiting for them to finish one before moving to another.

I'm gettin awfully envious of all these other member's GT, and mine is not looking up to their par lol

I find clean water and a good diet goes along way, but some fish have less color than others. Really depends on the fish......

My fish always respond to fresh or frozen foods in the diet.....

And don't underestimate cover in your tank..... the more I have the more colorful and confident my fish are...

I agree with what others have recommended. The other thing is just pure genetics... Your fish just may just never have great colors because his parents didn't. Green terrors are pretty common, and the ones you find in a lot of stores just aren't high quality.

I'm just having a tough time finding comparison pics of fish the same size/age. The ones that look similar are obviously high end show fish, which would run considerably more money.

I just want mine to end up with a pretty red tipped tail (Which is headed that way), definitive mouth stripes, and a lighter color than it is now. It just looks...muddy.

Anyone have baby pics of their GT they can comapre with?

What are the tank mates? That could be a stressed out gt. I had 2 larger gt's in one tank and the larger of the 2 looked very colorful and the other looked dark like yours. Its a confidence thing with gts from my experience.

He's in a tank with a blood red parrot cichlid and yellow lab cichlid. They all went at it once the green terror was added but they have established themselves now.

It was obviously in a super stressed condition upon leaving the lfs, it barely had it's mouth stripes and all of it's fins were frayed.

could be the tank size... If u plan on keepin all three...ur gonna need a bigger tank pretty soon. Maybe a 75 gallon with all 3...or at least a 55 gallon for the GT alone depending on whether u got a male or female( they don't get as big as males). They can easily grow up to a foot long with proper care.:headbang2
