I appreciate all the input on my original thread. Here in part "DeuX" post specific recipes you have been successful with as well as the species consuming each.
Here we go:
For newly acquired wild caught Henlei and Schroeder (Flower):
4 packets unflavored gelatin
10 tablespoons of your preferred pellet
1/2 cup Silversides (frozen flat packed variety)
2 cups hot water (almost boiling)
In a blender place the pellets and gelatin, BLEND. Add the hot water, BLEND. Add the silversides, BLEND.
THis particular recipe has worked extremely well for me with wild Henlei and FLower regardless of size. For a some variability I swap the Silversides with Nightcrawlers, same amount. The idea here is to get the rays fed but to also get them exposed to a new food. The 1/2 cup of minnows or worms serves to transition the rays from a familiar "wild taste" to something more manageable and stable such as pellets.
For expecting Mother Rays:
1/2 cup minced Shrimp
1/2 cup minced Tilapia
4 packets unflavored gelatin
4 tablespoons pellet of your choice
As a General Diet:
5 packets unflavored gelatin
10 Tbs pellet of your choice
1.5 cups hot water.
I feed my rays the general diet three batches in a row then substitute in the prego or the wild for variability.
Respecfully,
FireMedic.
