Best LED light fixture on the market!

Just wanted to share this lighting system. My canopy has only 2.5" of clearance inside so lighting was a serious challenge! I finally settled on what you see here.
I started with a Marineland doublebright 36-48" fixture. Very disappointing! (see first pic!) it does look better in person but it barely lights my 30" deep tank. Even three of these fixtures would never light my tank to where I wanted it.

I discovered the Ecoxotic fixtures at a local LFS and brought one home to compare. WOW. These are 12 watt fixtures designed to grow corals and accent saltwater fish. They cost 95. each including everything needed to run them. They are supposed to last 50,000 hours or about 10 years without changing a bulb. They mount into the canopy using two screws in about three minutes.

The second pics shows just the three Ecoxotic fixtures.
The third is all running together.....60 watts of fury! i could easily plant this tank. Curious why no one else is running these lights. My 300 dollar investment will pay for itself in electricity and bulb savings in under two years!

The double bright would work nicely on a shallow unplanted tank I guess....i had high hopes for it but it failed my deep tank!

I do like the cheaper LED spotlights I have seen but I consulted a lighting expert and he told me the drivers are crap and they do not last. They also cannot work in a canopy!

The marineland Doubles would work well on your smaller tank....The Ecoxotic modules can also be found at foster and smith and Marinedepot.com. They make an expensive fixture as well that wold be overkill for freshwater. The modules are designed to mount directly into a canopy but could easily be mounted onto a strip of wood and hung in about 5 minutes. The twelve watt fixtures are twice as bright as the 24 watt marineland! Three modules would light your 125 nicely. The three hundred dollars might sound expensive but no bulbs for 7-10 years?? No heat transfer and low energy consumption means money well spent!

You only spent 300 on your entire tank! LOL Nicely done! A decent system for my deep tank would have cost that much no matter what I chose. What is the point of building a show tank if you can barely see your fish!
