:D Didn't take long. I'm pretty sure they like it here. (Excuse all the pleco poop.)

Congrats, looks like they like it at your house :naughty:.

Congrats Ryan. That pair is a spawning machine once they get going. Expect that to happen about every 8 weeks. I wouldn't be real suprised if they lose this batch just because they were recently moved. So if something doesn't pan out do worry. By the next go round they will be taking turns holding and have mouths stuffed with fry.

Do they pick them up as wrigglers? And if so, how long do they hold them? I've bred tons of Heros, but never the mouthbrooding type.

Out of all the fish on this site, this pair is one of my favorites. Awesome fish and congrats on the spawn!

Great fish and congrats on the spawn!

A buddy asked me the other day:

Why would a fish be a delayed mouthbrooder vs. an immediate one? What advantage does it serve?

My first thought was that the eggs of delayed mouthbrooders tend to be smaller than immediate ones, so more fry can be produced in a single spawn...and this could be a strategy to combat predation. Others have ideas?
