dose any one know the avarge price of crystel shrimp

are crystal shrip and ghost shrimp the same ? if so there like a buck a dozen and there vary hardy

PLease find out the linneaus name. If it is the same as a glass shrimp they(in most places) cost just under 2$ ea and live slightly over 2 years. they are also one of the few shrimp that will breed in fw. A bout the only way they die before 2 years is if something eats them. they average about 1-1 1/2" long and are great scavengers and algae eaters. The only shrimp I have seen at 1$/doz were fairy shrimp whitch are mysids, not true shrimp, more like giant brine shrimp, very cool and great feeders.Glass shrimp look like market shrimp except that they are very small and perfectly clear. The tank that acts as a bathroom nightlight has at least three in it that are almost three years old.

I don't know the dark colored ones, cherry amanos run4-5 dollars each and live2-3 years at most, they live in fresh water but need salt water to breed.

My cherry reds were 3.49 and were very hardy. Kept the tank very clean. When I kept shrimp I also added a few drops of iodine to the tank each week. Don't know if it did anything but mine molted all the time and doubled in size in a month.

If you keep a tank as clean as it should you have nothing to worry about water quality. Just don't put any thing with copper in there as I heard that kills shrimp fast. So if you have a planted tank watch the ingredients of any trace additives you use. I avoided ones with copper.
