I've been wanting to breed Red Texas for the past 6 months now and have been waiting patiently for the right time and resources to get started. I've had some Texas cichlids ever since I've started the hobby back in July of 2011. I went to San Diego for Christmas vacation and I finally found the last piece to my puzzle, a Blood Parrot (King Kong). Here are some pics to get the show started. I hope these guys will begin to pair up. If you have any tips on breeding, feel free to share. I admit I'm still new at this so all the help is appreciated. I'll keep you all updated. Enjoy!

Alright for sure. I almost baught my King Kong from you guys. I was up there with my uncle and niece. Not sure if you remember us stopping by. I wasn't able to stop by again because i didn't have any time. Maybe next time. You guys have some beautiful Flower Horns.

Are you sure you have a male texas and a female BP other wise you are doomed. I am not great at sexing fish but someone here should be able to help you. Post some close up to help them out. Remember male BP are sterile and not sure but heard the escondito texas is a good cross with the BP. Once you have them breed don't cull untill at least a year as some fish may take a while to fade. This willbe a long term project do'nt expect red fish the first crossing.

I'm pretty sure I have male texas and female BP. Here are some photo's to verify. Took me a while to get good shots. Enjoy.

Sup Gabe, thats not one of my Escondido's is it? You should contact a local guy here in Fresno, he had some Texas X Blood Parrot fishes at 3-4" and I got 2 of them. One of them I gave away, but the one I kept has now blackened up and is fading.

I'll get back with you on the screen name, I wont post pics til after my OC trip. As far as breeding, LOL, my friends says its my water that makes my fish Horny. You might wanna come get some of my water, LOL. Take care buddy.

Okay I cant see YOUR pics, but the guy I think is johnnycichlid, looks like he hasnt logged in since Nov. He had a big pond in his backyard. Here is the Texas X Blood parrot he gave me. This is a pic from 2 weeks ago, I can see red-orange behind the peeling now.

Alright, here are the photos that you were supposed to see from the previous post, I was having minor problems with my computer. Two, Yes this is the only escondido left out of the three that i got from you. Survival of the fittest. I wish they all survived though. They got eaten up i think. One day they were there and the next y they were gone. He's a beauty man.

Hey two, yea, i can see some faint coloring behind the fade. Are you working on a RT project too? Yea man, let me get some of that water, lol. I'm starting to do more water changes also, I remember you saying you do yours twice a week right? I'm trying to get her in the mood.

I have a similar project going right now too but have more of an emphasis on short bodied red texas faders as the finished product.
You have a male and female to kill any question about that. Search my started threads, I have a pair alot like yours. Not much help posted on it but you can check my project.
Interested in trading fry when you get some?
