I have a SM, she is about 4 years old and about 3 feet long, I was wondering if anyone else has one this size and if so how much and how often are you feeding yours?
mine isn't quite that big, only about 2 feet. i feed him about 4 adult mice a week. i know a lot of people will say only to feed insects and what not, but the mice are working out great for him and i haven't had any problems. every now and then i feed him some cooked egg whites, and when there are grasshoppers around he loves those too... how long have you had yours, and what size enclosure do you have it in? building a new one for mine this week

Here's a few articles I dug up on sav care. Please note the sections on diet, specifically on their natural diet and how whole adult rodents affect them.
Thanks guys! Mine is in a 75gal right now, I build her a custom cage that was 5 feet long 3& a half feet tall and 3 feet wide and it had two levels in it and she never moved so I got her the 75 4 now. Has anyone ever tried feeding hissing cockroaches to their monitor? I read that they like them?
Well im breeding hissing coackroaches just for my monitor. Yes they do love them and should be part of their staple diet. I see that you have sand in the picture. Dont us it. These animals dont come from the desert. They live in grass lands that have dirt. Let your monitor dig in about a foot of dirt. Also, put her in the big cage. The one she is in now is way to small. Good luck
