So I just bought 50 lbs of Aquamax 500 carnivore floating pellets (a little bit smaller than a pea) for $30 and a 5lb bag of Aquamax Starter 300 fingerling floating and sinking pellets (bb size pellets) for $6. Great deal but this will be a long term thead to so the affects that it has on tropical fish. All of my smaller fish love the 300 except for my yellow lab, but he is still eating it eventually. Plus all of my larger fish seem to like the 500 heck even one of my motoros tried some, although she did spit it out after a few chews. The 300 should really help to put some weight on my smaller baby fish since it is 50% protein, the 500 on the other hand is only 32% (that number is off of memory i threw the packaging away). The onyl bad thing that I can see so far is that there is not a consistent ingredients list. They just get what they can so every batch has a different list, but they guarantee the nutrient levels in the food. So we will see if it works I am also trying to find the Aquamax 500 omnivore pellets but no one around me carries it.

That's awesome man. I may go to the hardware in town and pick a bag up. I need a BUNCH of food to stockpile lol.....

I'm thinking of purchasing the Purina products. What has your experience been over the last year? Would you recommend these foods? Do your fish breed on these or do you need to supplement? Is this a messy food that requires above average maintenance? Does it dissolve in the water easily or have other problems? Which Purina foods do you recommend and have you used? I see on their web site they sell "Game Fish Chow", Aqua Max Carnivorous and Aqua Max Omnivorous. Do they still have the starter or other products? Do you recommend another inexpensive food above the Purina products or are these a good food to purchase?

Thank you in advance for your input and advice.

I would recomend these they are not as good as say Hikari but when you feed 3-4 lbs of pellets a day who can afford hikari!!!!!!!! I ran out of the first 55 lbs awhile ago last time I bought food I bought 185 lbs 1 50 lb bag of aquamax 500 1 50lb bag of floating catfish pellets 1 50 lbs bag of gamefish chow 1 30 lb bag of mazuri koi food and 1 5lb bag of aquamax 300 al for a wopping $88 I mixed them all together except the 300 since the big fish dont like it and I feed the mix daily it all gets eaten by various fish my aro spits out all the koi food but eats the rest the cats and the pacus eat the koi food along with the smaller cichlids I have seen trmendous growth in all fish since starting the aquamax the first timeI wonder how long 185lbs of food will last?????

Eh........how many fish have you got if you're having to buy THAT much food??!!
