my lfs had this gorgeous (gorgeous for me at least) male convict that i think was a hybrid wid a parrot. overall appearance is a white con with short body like parrot and has a nunchal hump n his head. i wanted to buy it but ive heard somewhere here that hybrids are infertile?

Many hybrids are infertile. Check with them, as it can also be a normal pink con that should have been culled. I have had several over the many batches that have had the short bodied appearance, and hump. These specimens were born in a group of normal looking pink cons.

cons can breed with parrot and produce what is commonly called jelly bean parrots. I do not know if they can breed are not. My pink con was short with a large hump and he was just a reg. pink con.

U will have to get him a girlfreind and find out :grinno: i don't have any bp experience but from what i have been told is that they are 50 /50 fertile and nonfertile.

ahhhmmmmm.... what?

I probably quoted it wrong....I took the line from Jurassic Park's cool man mathmatician....The character he plays beleives that even though the dinosaurs in the park are all female, somehow, they will evolve and actually breed(which happened in the following sequels)....

I saw some Jelly Bean Cichlids at Walmart the other day and there was 2 spawns in the tank. So I'm going to say that they are fertile.
